Randy and I went out Sunday afternoon to see if we could find another spot like the one we found back in the spring. We went to a house to ask if the people there new who owned the land that we wanted to walk over. The nice lady said she didn't have a clue, but her neighbor Raymond would know for sure. So we went next door and met Raymond. And he knew who owned every piece of property in the entire county, and he named everyone of them for us. We finally got him to understand that we just wanted to go to this particular spot in the woods across from his house. No problem he said, I'll take you there. So we went around to the back of his house and got onto his four wheeler that looked like a miniture truck. Not enough room up front for three so guess who got to ride on the back. Randy. The truck bed was almost big enough for him. Here we go down through the woods following some "almost" trails. Now Raymond had said the spot we wanted to go to was only about a quarter mile distance form his house. Wrong. After we had ridden at least a half mile Raymond tried to go between to trees that were just too close together. While trying to back up and go around the trees the engine dies. Outta gas. Son of a gun. No problem Raymond says we'll just walk the rest of the way. After a nice walk of I would say about a half mile we came to the spot we were looking for. After a tour of the surrounding area we started back. Now Raymond said he was in his seventies, but you would never know it by the way he walked, all the while talking. But he was nice enough to stop and wait on us every now and then. When we got back to Raymonds house we asked if he would like us to go back with him to retrieve his four wheeler. No thanks, Raymond said, I'll just get my neighbor to take me back in his golf cart. Good luck on gettin a golf cart down those trails. Now some where in his rambling, Raymond had told us the name the the person who owns the land that we had just been on. So we were off to met this guy who turned out to be just as nice as Raymond. He said we could walk over his property and he would take us to the spot we wanted to go to. Come on we'll go in my truck he said. This time we took our detectors with us. Not enough room in the front seat for three, so guess who gets to ride on the back. Randy. The land owner took us down a much better road to the same place Raymond had taken us. Now according to the red book maps we should have been standing in the middle of a rather large camp. Wrong. Nothing but shot gun shells and barbed wire. Total C.W. finds for the day ZERO. I did manage to pick up few jiggers and one tick though. Got ride of the tick but the red bugs are still with me, and letting me know it. How was your day? Anyway just remember
Keep on diggin!!
