SC Metal Detector & Relic Assoc

I spent the week in Hilton Head with my family and was able to get to the beach four times for about 2 hours each.   The first day out I managed a sweet 14K wedding band and silver ring.   I then pulled another silver ring on day two and finally a big costume ring on day 3.   Day 4 was a 10pm hunt at low tide and nothing of merit was found.   I did get one Canadian Penny (1964), four pairs of sunglasses (1 Ray Ban's) and a nice shovel.   Overall I had a great time and the whole time at the beach saw only one guy with a detector and he was a tourist with a radio shack detector.   To make it even a better weekend I ran to the publix and got a no date buffalo in change.  I can't remember when the last time that happened.  Here is the final tally:

What surprised me about the beach was how clean it was.  No trash and almost every target was a coin or jewelry although the targets were few and far between.  I  posted a video of the hunt on Youtube under JAD5822.

Hey Jim, sounds like you had a great time. Hope it wasn't too hot for you there.  I have only found one good ring at the beach in all my years of hunting.  I found it at Hunting Island, south of Beaufort S.C. in the dry sand. I haven't been to the beach in quiet some time now but I think me and several of my hunting buddies are going to go to Florida this fall and get together with one of our former club members who moved there this past year.  We hope to hunt the gold coast an maybe find some Spanish fleet coins.

Thanks Bill.   I have been extremely lucky at the beach.  I've been about 6-8 times and hit gold twice and silver five times.    The MXT has been good to me on the beach.   FYI....I will not be able to make the meeting next Tuesday.  I've been called out of town on business so I will not be able to do my program on Tokens until next month. Sorry for the late notice.
