    Preserving Your Iron Relics

I called up Bobby Hallman today to ask him what he uses on his iron relics to make them look good and preserve them. It turns out the name of the product is TRU-OIL made by Birchwood Casey. I went to the Sportsmans shop in Newport today looking for it but they did not have any; so they pointed me in the right direction. They suggested using Brownells.com or Midwayusa.com. I am sure you can also try to see if Birchwood Casey sells directly to the public. Bobby mentiond he has not seen it for a long while in stores, so it is probably in our best interest to try to get it online if you are interested in preserving some of those cool iron relics, I found a neat old padlock this month that I am going to try and preserve it before the next meeting, I have already subjected it to the electrolysis torture device. See you next meeting,

    Jeff,

Tru-Oil is a Gun Stock Varnish.  I have purchased if at Wal-Mart (YES>>>>>I have been to the Devil Store once or twice)

Best to put them through Electrolysis first if possible.
