    Weekend Diggins

    Smile

     Hey gang,

We really need to get this forum up and running.  I encourage folks to join in the reporting.  We should be able to connect through out the month and take each other hunting here.

Our weekend was not much to report, but we did get out.  Only a few coins and trinkets from a church yard, but it was still a great adventure.  I always love getting out with my hunting buddies and trying.  Thanks guys.

    Always Next Time.

    Re: Weekend Diggins

Rick, glad to see you got out, Its always the hunt  that produces the adventure, not just the finds in the hunt.

I agree with you about getting this forum up and running but I really think this forum needs some serious updating to help make that happen. I would love to change my screen name and shorten it up a bit but I have to create a whole new profile to do that. It does state in the site rules somewhere that it is an option that is left up to the site administrator?  Secondly the home page should be updated and different categories or files layed out so each person can post in a certian category that relates to their topic. I notice we get new members sign up but they rarely post, and when they do no one but Chris Watson answers them. How about a This weeks finds category, Or a what is it category? Look up treasurenet.com and see how their site is layed out. Now all of this is contingent on the notion that we really want to get this site up and running and this is just MY opinion but I do not get overly excited logging on to this forum like I do with others. Any way I look forward to Tuesdays meeting and hanging out with everyone.

    Take care,

    Re: Site ideas

    Jeff:

These are all good points you make.  I think when Scott put this together, it was kind of a "prototype".  It has really struggled since then - mostly for lack of use.  There seems to only be a few of us that use it to any degree - and I think that is a shame.  Perhaps your point about updating the categories will help???  I dunno.  I see that we are getting some spammers on here posting their advertisements for various drugs, (inside of their profile), etc.  - that needs to be dealt with as well.

In my opinion, it's really going to take two things - someone to monitor and continue to develop the forum, and an honest commitment by our members to actively use it.  It feel like without these two things, we should consider mothballing the forum.  That would be a shame because I kind of enjoy it.

I'll tell you what Chris, get me the Adminisrator password for this forum and in my limited time I will work on updating some things such as categories and things of that nature. Jamison has his hands full with the Facebook page and the website already. If I can do that then maybe we could get this forum up and running.

    Re: Site & Pics

    Jeff:

I'll talk to Scott & Jamison - they have the ultimate say.

You've done something you weren't supposed to be able to do - you've posted a picture outside of the photos forum... that used to be impossible - for security reasons, if you know what I mean.  That's one of the reasons I log on every day - just to make sure no-body has posted any naughty pics... I can't see them easily if they're buried within posts!  This needs to be fixed, hey, and maybe you are the guy to do it!

I don't know what the medal is, but it's pretty cool looking.  I assume it is just costume jewelry???

    Re: Site & Pics

Below is what Scott wrote about posting pics on the site. The only difference is I upload my pictures from a photo site named Shutterfly. That way the picture is actually linked to their site which stores it, and the "memory" space is not taken off our site because of it being linked (just like attaching a link to your post to a particular website for someone to look at) I hope explained it correctly; I am having a problem articulating my words again today. I wouldn't mind talking to Scott about this to verify what I am saying, I could be wrong but this is what I have been taught and I have been posting pics on other sites this way for a long time. If I am correct I would create a Folder (forum) for todays finds to upload pics and stories.

    1) Create a user name and password – skip this step if you’ve already done this. 2) Log in using your user name and password 3) Click on the “Photos” tab 4) Click on “Club Photos” to post a find, or a photo from one of our club outings 5) Down on the bottom right side of the website, you’ll see “add picture” 6) Click on “add picture” 7) On the right side of the next page that comes up, you’ll see a button that says “Upload Photo” 8) Click on it 9) A little window will open, and there will be a button that says “Browse” 10) Click on it 11) Locate your photo on your computer, select the photo on your computer by clicking on it once, then click “open” 12) You’ll see a long string address of where your photo is on your computer, click the button below “Browse” that says “Upload” 13) Scroll down the website to a button at the bottom that says “SAVE” 14) Click on it. 15) Your photo will now show up in Club Photos. Please do not put photos in any other locations other than Club Photos, and do not upload any photos that should not be on our user friendly site. Thank you, and good luck, Scott E - webmaster
