I hate it, but we have got to postpone the outing. Many folks have called me with concerns about the approaching weather. Additionally, I am concerned with taking a couple of dozen cars into wet farm fields, in the rain ... not a pretty thought!!! Nothing like some deep ruts to make you popular with the land owner!
Tentatively, most people are for moving it to next Saturday (the 12th). There are a couple of folks who can't make it then - but then there are a couple of others who couldn't make this weekend, but are available next weekend. It's really hard to find a date that works for everybody. Let me know your thoughts!!!!
Bill and I did meet with the landowner today to go over the fields and property lines. We noticed that there are several primo areas that are now huntable that we have never been able to hunt - we don't want to let them grow up on us before we can get a coil on them!!! One spot is a housesite (all that remains is a handpump well head) that has always been waist-high in grass. It is now cut. We asked the landowner how old the house was and he said he was born there in 1937 - and the house was old then!!! We are thinking it may go back to the War, and we've found bullets in the trees near the field where the housesite is. Hmmmm Think there will be anything there???
