I am writing in an
effort to locate a gentleman who performed a metal detector search on the
lakebed of a lake on the Hawfield farm located at the corner of Ardrey Kell Road
and Highway 521 in Mecklenburg County in 2006 or 2007. I gave the
gentlemen permission for the search and he was kind enough to report back that
he had found a class ring from East Mecklenburg High School in the
lakebed. The initials in the ring had the last letter of "M.". At
the time, the family concluded that the ring belonged to "Duck" Mallard who lost
the ring while swimming in the lake in the 1960's. We could not locate Mr.
Mallard, however.
Subsequently, as
part of a reunion of the Harrison United Methodist Church Methodist Youth
Fellowship, Mr. Mallard, who is now living in Virginia, turned up and was
thrilled that his ring had been found. Unfortunately, I have now misplaced
the name of the gentlemen who found the ring.
Is that person
one of your members?
Thanks,
Ben H
